First, we would like to thank the city and the TTC for providing the TTC Routes and Schedules data available on toronto.ca/open.

Unfortunately, several would-be users (including us) have come to realize that there are serious problems with the data posted on October 27, 2009. We would like to identify these problems so that they can be resolved for future updates.

In summary, the data: a) is incomplete: routes are missing b) is inaccurate: does not match other TTC data sources (such as ttc.ca)

One salient point from the links above that we would like to underscore is that — based on comparing different sources of data — it can be inferred that a different (and likely better) set of data exists: the one that is at the heart of ttc.ca. Perhaps the city would consider making that data available as it may be a better starting point than what is currently provided.

In addition, we strongly recommend that some form of geographical information accompany the stops data. Without this it is very difficult to determine the locations of the stops.

We would like to take this opportunity to ask the city to improve the quality of (or replace) the data provided and to consider providing the data from ttc.ca.
