Restaurant Health Inspection Data

Publish health inspection results for restaurants. Which places are safe, which are in violation, where they are located and what are the causes of violation (if any), and the outcome of the investigation. As a city that relies not only on its citizens to fuel our economy, but external tourist traffic, this data is necessary to help us make conscientious decisions as to which places are safe, and which aren't.

I was just going to request this one myself.

Edmonton does a similar thing where every single complaint is viewable online for every restaurant. It's a nice feature as it clears up why some places have the "yellow" rating.

The City of Toronto already has a "Food Premises Inspection and Disclosure System" site, also called "Dine Safe".

    http://app.toronto.ca/food2/index.jsp

It would be nice if a) the site was more mobile friendly (but at least there's no flash!) b) had a api to 1) search for establishments by name or address (at minimum) 2) get the inspection info 3) get the output as xml and/or json

I think of a yelp / urban spoon mashup (heck have them-or google.ca - pay for the cost of open sourcing it!) or you could even just use the establishment db (as a xml download) as the core of your own app.

Also have a moble based "Food Premises Complaint" input process.

Access to the data (not the website) in real time as the reports are done would be amazing!
